Software Freedom Day is a global, grassroots effort to educate the public about the virtues and availability of Free and Open Source Software. Over 200 teams are registered so far, and they have plans to celebrate Free Software at schools, universities, parks, and many other public places.

We are happy to inform you that the test runs of "Tuwasiliane", the Tanzanian Kiswahili web browser have produced positive results and hence making our country a first to have its own national web browser. With kind support from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), for about six month now, the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) has been developing a tool that will enable Swahili users all over the world access the vast resources in the Internet using Swahili language.

The organization that was formed to promote the use of Open Source software in Africa.
